A special thank you to the Science Department and in particular, faculty members Mr. Robert Benedetto '89 and Mr. Troy Gabriele, who worked with 20 students who were organized into Experiments & Logistics Teams for the Watch Party.

Lawn games were provided by Central Catholic's Intramural Sports League.

The CCHS Science Department surveyed students on their attitudes and understanding of the Solar Eclipse and offered them different lessons that would enable them to better understand the sun-earth-moon system.

Students and teachers using a spectrophotometer

Raiders...

  • measured the intensities of different visible wavelengths of light using a spectrophotometer,
  • measured the atmospheric temperature using a temperature probe,
  • observed the biological behaviors of crickets before, during and after the eclipse,

And will be...

  • measuring the orbital speed of the moon based on their timed, observable data.
